Dr. Abigail Engwall graduated from the University of Minnesota with two Bachelors of Arts degrees in English and French with a minor in Chemistry. She completed a magna cum laude thesis. During her undergraduate years, she cultivated her love for medicine and underserved populations by volunteering with inter-city youth programs and living as a volunteer in a Hospital in Haiti. Dr. Engwall continued her medical education attending Ross University School of Medicine. During this time, she led multiple medical volunteer organizations and she continued to volunteer internationally on multiple medical mission trips. Through medical school, she developed a passion for research and she was able to present at American College of Surgeons Congress. She excelled in her studies, graduating with summa cum laude. Dr. Engwall completed a preliminary year at the University of Southern Alabama and presented her burn research at the Southern Regional Burn conference. Dr. Engwall proudly matched into Michigan State University where she continues to present research and find time to volunteer internationally. She desires to become an excellent surgeon who is applicable in an innovative, cutting edge environment as well as limited resource global surgery relief efforts.
